Alexandre Mottrie, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Alexandre Mottrie is Professor of the University of Gent, Belgium and Honorary Chairman of the Department of Urology, OLV Hospital, Aalst.

His major interests are urological oncology and minimal invasive surgery. Within his department, Dr. Mottrie developed laparoscopic and robotic surgery to become the training center in this field. He has authored multiple scientific papers and organised several international congresses. He has been actively involved in multiple congresses to perform live-surgery, give courses and/or present state-of-the-art lectures. Dr. Mottrie founded the OLV Robotic Surgery institute (ORSI), a multidisciplinary training center for robotic surgery.

He is the President of the Belgian Laparoscopic Urology Group (BLUG), founding Board Member of the Society of Robotic Surgeons (SRS), Scientific Director of the European Robotic Urology Symposium (ERUS) and President of the OLV Robotic Surgery Institute (ORSI).
